'General Patton is buried at the Luxembourg American Military Cemetery, and is the highest ranking and most famous soldier buried overseas.
Patton died on December 21, 1945 a day before he was due to retire from complications following a car accident. It was his wife Beatrice who chose Luxembourg, which Patton helped to liberate, as his final resting place. About 80.000 people visit the cemetry each year.' General Patton
